Cette marche urbaine initiée par SYN- au camp Adaptive Actions - l'Université Concordia l'automne 2010 prend comme canevas de travail le concept de dé-programmation : une idée d'abord associée, dans sa dimension plus péjorative, à une déstructuration ressentie depuis quelques années dans ce secteur parfois vampirisé qui inclut l'Université Concordia.

En dissonance avec l'interprétation habituelle du programme architectural, ce concept pourrait-il plutût être exploré par le biais d'actions singulières qui marquent une différence et créent une diversité? Manque d'ancrages et forte mobilité étudiante, densité critique de population et brassages culturels adaptés au high-rise : autant d'ingrédients actifs pour alimenter cette réflexion. La marche explorera quelques réalités spatiales et minoritaires susceptibles d'entrer en interaction avec des jeux d'influence et des visions d'ensemble qui se dessinent pour l'avenir du secteur.

En vue de cette marche, les participants peuvent contribuer en proposant des situations ou des lieux inhabituels observés dans le quartier entourant l'Université Concordia, par le biais d'une image et/ou d'un court texte.

This urban walking tour was initiated by SYN- at the Adaptive Actions Camp held at Concordia University in the fall of 2010. Its framework is the concept of de-programming, an idea initially related, in its most negative form, to the progressive breakdown and recent cannibalization of the area that includes Concordia University.

In contrast to the usual interpretation of the architectural program, might this concept instead be explored through singular actions that describe difference and foster diversity? The following might prove to be active ingredients in stimulating this reflection: a lack of stability and a highly transient student population, critical population density, and culturally induced adaptations of the high-rise. The walk will explore some realities relating to space and minority communities, issues likely to converge with dominant influences and collective visions that are charting the sector's future.

For this walk tour, participants can contribute an image or a brief text representing unusual places and situations observed in the area around Concordia University.
